For those of you who enjoy the finer things in life, we tell you where you can experience the finest dining in PARIS for under €40 (page 42), and unusual uses for beer in PRAGUE! (page 36). We also follow two lucky readers as they discover the delights of AMSTERDAM in just 24 hours. For your chance to be a roving reporter for yeahbaby, turn to page 18.
Hungry? Try one of our new sandwiches – Coronation chicken or free-range egg and cress, or a delicious hot panini with mozzarella, tomato and basil. For great savings, check out our meal deals – you can have any of our yummy sandwiches, together with a J2O, for just £5! If you fancy something a bit stronger, we’re now stocking Strongbow cider on top of our usual range of alcoholic drinks. super service
I’d like to extend my many thanks to the air crew, in particular the crew manager, on our recent flight from Prague to East Midlands. Unfortunately, my daughter felt very unwell on the trip and the crew manager was helpful and considerate, without making too much of a fuss. She made what could have been a very unpleasant experience for my daughter, much more bearable. Please pass on my thanks. Yours truly,
Angela Hook, Oundle, Peterborough
calm under pressure
My wife and I recently travelled from Malaga to Birmingham, as we like to do about every couple of months. On this particular flight, a lady passenger injured herself while boarding and required medical assistance before she could fly. This meant of course that her luggage had to be identified and unloaded, making the flight late. Then our “slot” to take off was missed and we had to sit and wait for another. It was a very hot day and the air conditioning could not be used for quite a long time.
The purpose of my letter is to draw to your attention the kindness and efficiency shown by all of the cabin crew, who kept everyone informed of any developments and did their best to attend to all who were suffering problems because of the heat. They were all marvellous, remaining cheerful throughout, and you as a company should be congratulated on having such dedicated staff. Our final landing time was delayed by an hour and a half, and these young people just take that in their stride as part of their job.
We expect that you are probably more likely to receive letters of complaint after unfortunate events like those that happened that day, so we wanted to be sure that you understand exactly how well your staff performed under very difficult circumstances.
